 Post subject: Jack is alive.

First the short version. Jack is alive. He says:

Quote:
If people keep asking about me, let them know I'm alive and hope to be functional again soonish.

Now the full story...

I, like most of you, have been wracking my brain on how to track Jack down. I googled, I searched obits, I tried using logic, phonebooks, and domain name records. Moments ago, I remembered that, while I don't have Jack's contact info, I did have Nico's IM (surely you all remember Nico, right?). So, I sent her the friendly "You don't know me, but..." IM, and she was kind enough to respond back. She was completely unaware of the Jack is Dead rumors, and did find them amusing. She pointed out that he was online but away, and sent him an IM. He responded shortly thereafter, and she passed along the quote above. I didn't bother asking all the other questions everyone wants answered, because she was kind enough to humor (basically) a stranger, and I'm sure Jack will update us all "soonish."

Yeah, this is only like my third post to the AtAT forums, so I'm sure that doesn't help my credability, but I'm also certian that Nico would rather not have her screenname posted :)

Hooray for Jack being alive!

Shan

Yeah, we had the feeling that Jack is alive, but whatever is going on in his life, we didn't want to bug him

...unlike a certain individual whom shall not be identified here becaused he's caused enough grief for everyone (not you, of course, iotashan).

Tell Nico we said 'Howdy!'

Hope noone seriously thought he was dead - I never did. FWIW, the first place I thought to check has snailmail address and phone number, so if we wanted we could probably have tracked him down, but there is such a thing as privacy. If he doesn't want to make a noise, we won't bother him.

Happy to hear that he's getting better from whatever it was that kept him from posting, but let him know that he shouldn't rush it. It's just a website after all, even though you might be forgiven for thinking otherwise from all the ruckus.

No we all know, the reason the guy made all the noise about Jack being dead was just because he loved him so much, only with pure and undying love could you say someone is dead, just like that.

Ha! That, or he's a creep. I can't wait until I have to explain to Jack what happened when he finally gets around to reading all the emails I'm sure our good friend sent him.

In other news, this scented candle smelled good at the store but I'm quickly coming to the conclusion that I actually hate it. What a waste of $4.

You gotta get this French Vanilla one, it smells like awesome. You don't even have to burn it and it freshens the room.

I think I just sprained my flamboyancy ballast.

Yay! Of course with Jack, soonish could be like 5 months from now. Oh well, can't wait to hear from him. Perhaps he's waiting to make his triumphant return after the "real" video iPod is released...

Dan, you should check your sarcasm detector, I think it's out of gas.

I dunno, I kinda think the last episode of AtAT is an excellent quitting point. Jack started the site when Apple was seemingly on its deathbed, he was there to put a positive "spin" on Apple news. He contributed a lot to our emotional well-being, but now Apple doesn't need his help. I would be happy to see a farewell episode, but what's on the main page now seems fitting for what Jack was trying to do.

And there's no point releasing the video iPod till they can release a 2seat self inflating couch that fits in your pocket.

Its already in development
its going to be called the iCouch, its a part of Apple's strategy to take over the world, soon you will be able to buy the iHouse and the iCar and watch the iTv while sitting in your iCouch sipping coffee from your iMug, before going to bed in your iBed.
They will all be Airport and Bluetooth enabled.

Although Apple has decided to leave the Bathroom business to Microsoft, who is expected to release Win-Crapper Vista soon but it still has some bugs and has been delayed for another 4 years or so.....
