I've been shooting a bit of video with my photo camera lately (Nikon D90) and am starting to contemplate buying an honest-to-goodness video camera. I'm looking for something that's easy to carry around and does a decent job indoors/low light. I'm capping the cost at about $500.

Any tips/recommendations?

Why don't you just used your D90?

I do shoot with the D90, but when I'm shooting video with it, it's out of commission for pictures. It's also a bit bulk and difficult to hold steady for extended periods without a tripod.

I went with one of the JVC Evirio cams. It was on sale. It's light and compact. We'll see how it does.
